Born on April 5, 1991, in Montreal, Canada, to Moroccan parents (his father is from the Taounate region and his mother from Casablanca), Yassine Bounou moved to Morocco with his family when he was three years old. Growing up in Casablanca, his passion for football was evident as he spent hours playing in the streets with friends.

At eight years old, Bounou’s talent was recognized by Wydad AC, one of Morocco’s premier clubs, where he began his formal football education. His dedication and natural aptitude for the game saw him rise through the youth ranks quickly. He made his professional debut with Wydad AC in 2011, making a memorable first appearance in the African Champions League against Espérance Sportive de Tunis.

Bounou’s early experiences at Wydad AC laid the foundation for his future success, instilling in him the resilience and skills needed to excel at the highest levels of football.
