Born on February 22, 2000, in Rabat, Morocco, to Moroccan parents (both from Rabat), El Mehdi Benabid grew up in a football-loving family. His father, a former amateur goalkeeper, inspired his early interest in the sport. Benabid spent his childhood playing football in the streets of Rabat.

At the age of eight, Benabid joined the FUS Rabat academy, where he began his formal training as a goalkeeper. His dedication and talent were evident, and he quickly progressed through the youth ranks. Benabid’s impressive performances in the youth teams earned him a place in the senior squad of FUS Rabat in 2018.

Benabid’s career took off as he became the first-choice goalkeeper for FUS Rabat. His agility, reflexes, and command of the penalty area have made him a key player for the club and the Moroccan national team.
