Born on April 19, 2000, in Casablanca, Morocco, into a family of footballers (his father (from the city of Essaouira) and two brothers also played football), Azzedine Ounahi developed a passion for the round ball at an early age. He grew up in the working-class district of Derb Ghallef, where he kicked the ball with his friends in the streets.

It was at the age of 8 that Azzedine Ounahi joined the Mohammed VI Football Academy, a renowned institution for training young Moroccan talents. He spent six years there, honing his skills and sharpening his talent under the guidance of experienced coaches. In 2015, he was selected to participate in the U-17 African Cup of Nations with the Moroccan national team. In 2018, at the age of 18, Ounahi left the Mohammed VI Academy to sign his first professional contract with RC Strasbourg Alsace. However, he failed to establish himself in the first team and was loaned to US Avranches, a National 3 club, for the 2019-2020 season.
