Born on August 21, 1996, in Huizen, Netherlands, to a Moroccan father (from Al Hoceima) and a Dutch mother, Sofyan Amrabat grew up in a household passionate about football. His older brother, Nordin Amrabat, also pursued a professional football career, which served as an inspiration for Sofyan.

Amrabat joined the FC Utrecht academy at the age of eight, where he received a well-rounded football education. The academy’s focus on technical, tactical, and physical development helped him hone his skills. By the age of 17, he had signed his first professional contract with FC Utrecht and made his debut in the Eredivisie.
